Mowery / Dawson Line

Germany → Pennsylvania → Virginia → Tennessee → Texas → Arizona

The Mowery line traces from 18th-century Germany through Pennsylvania, the Shenandoah Valley, Tennessee, and the Texas frontier to 20th-century Arizona. Johann Peter Maurer immigrated in 1751; his son Peter fought in the Revolutionary War. The surname evolved from Maurer to Mowrey as the family moved south and west, eventually settling in Williams, Arizona along Route 66.
